    Edit post

For some season I cannot edit my posts. There is an "edit" at the bottom of the post, but I cannot get it to work??? What am I doing wrong?

EDIT.... I just added this, working on my end. RC

Oh, this explains why my BAN button doesn't work. I was thinking I was just insignificant.

    ?....hmmmm.......? Okay....is this the problem?

You are clicking on the left side of edit, and the right side of edit.....how about you click right in the center of edit....BUT....use the left button on your mouse.

If this is a joke?.... then you got me.

Sounds like something I would experience. My work computer used to do funny things that none of the other folks had ever seen before. The office joke was for me to not walk near their desk when they were on the computer. Still happens, just not as often. I keep Marty pretty busy.

This computer I am using is new and a very expensive HP laptop. But it is a piece of crap. It keeps freezing up and I have had it back to the store 3 times. They can't find anything wrong other than it is freezing up ever so often. I already know that! DUH!!

Mine just goes black. I close it for a couple seconds, then open it back up & it'll come back on where I was when it went down. Usually does it couple times a day, but the other day, it happened 8 times while I was trying to make a short post on another forum! Decided I was going to take it to Best Buy for repair, but hasn't acted up like that since & is back to it's usual 1 or 2 times per day.

    Re: Edit post

Well........ you can always dump windows and install Ubuntu.... I did that back in 2008..... really no troubles yet.

Or a cheap way to try it- order one of those older cheap refurbished computers from walmart.... put Linux on that.

This link show laptops up to $150.... all should work fine......you can scroll down on the left side of the page and click on more expensive computers if you wish, the more you spend- the newer the computer.

Edit: My old Asus is 8 years old. I run Ubuntu Mate on it.... it is easy as pie to use. And I almost never have an issue....but when I do.... its usually the net is down, or a part is broken on my puter- but its never an issue with the OS. I have put 2 batteries and 2 hdds on this computer.

I'm not sure if it's the computer (maybe 2 years old), Microsoft 10 operating system or Firefox browser. How do you tell? When I got on the 'net this am, had a message that Firefox was up dating. After the update, everything is changed up, like a different symbol for "Favorites" & then navigate it to get to Bersa Chat, symbol for "Home" has changed & moved, etc. I wish that when I get notice of an "update", I could refuse it.

Re: Firefox. You can opt out of automatic updates. Tools > Options > scroll down to Firefox Updates and select "Check for updates but let you choose to install them".

I have a Lenovo computer that came pre-installed with Windows 10 and one-year McAfee antivirus subscription. Mine keep freezing up and the guy at the store said MS 10 was new and it would eventually get the bugs out. All it took was to turn McAfee off and it wouldn't freeze anymore. You'd think they'd catch that bad marriage before pairing them up. I run the freebie Avast for antivirus and it seems to protect good enough for where I go on the net.

Yeah, I think the freebie anti-virus are as good as the $$ ones that cost.

But.....running Linux.....I never needed virus protection. At least not yet.....

I've been running Avast free for 15 years. Also their bootime scan is a must to have. Bootime works before windows starts. Hackers have found many ways using viruses that are hidden with windows operating.

Also stay off of Google search engines. Use Start Page or Duck Duck Go. Along with VPN you will be fine on the net.
