I’m going to be on the lookout for a new J Frame in the next few weeks. Looking for either a 642/442 or 638/438.
You guys see any good deals, let me know! I prefer the black finish and no lock, but let me know what you guys see around

I missed buying a 642 3 weeks ago in a local online auction. I only bib $161 and it went for $200.
I did a search on Armslist for "Airtight" and a couple looked interesting but no real bargains.

The prices on those, even in the gun stores around me, are pretty competitive right now.
The wife likes her 642, she has it loaded with CorBon DPX. I don't know why but she can keep it on target better than I can, we both shoot it one handed to reduce recoil.

I know I need another j frame like I need a hole in the head. But I feel the NEED to get a 642/442 or a 638/438. I don’t know why. The word “because” comes to mind.
How’s the finish holding up on your 638? I was going to buy a used one today from an online sale, but it sold before I could message the guy. Now, suspiciously, a new posting has appeared for another 638 for the same asking price just north of the original. I’m thinking guy bought it, noticed something wrong and is now trying to recoupe his cash. I’m leary of it...
The finish on mine is like new. I bought it from a Pawn shop last year and it came with an ankle holster that had heavy wear but protected the gun well, $300 OTD. I keep it by my chair in the den....holster is in the assorted holster drawer. When I carry it I use a belt slide OTW covered by a light jacket.
Long story short, jab is a male.

I located some young guy on a local sale here who had a 442 Pro Series Gun (cut for moon clips, has stainless cylinder instead of carbon steel). Was selling it for $300. He said the trigger was too heavy and the sights didn’t allow for good shooting. So he bought a Glock 42 and was selling this gun. Has a couple songs in the finish, but it’s a sound gun with little shooting through it. Well, until I bought it. Put about 200 rounds through it today. Shoots real well. Trigger isn’t great, but it’s a j frame and should get better with shooting and dry firing. I’ll hold off polishing anything up until it gets some more rounds through it. Moon clips won’t be much use, but I do like to carry the gun loaded with them for good extraction if I should ever have the need to reload. After that, it’s just the speed strips.
Target at 10 yards, first 10 shots

John, that's some good shot placement with that little gun. They are ment to have a heavy pull, not a target trigger. Add a little KG-10 in and around the trigger, it will sure help in the smothness. Did you shoot one handed or a two hand hold?
Congrats on your new purchase.

That shooting was two handed. I do shoot one handed and weak hand only to get ready for qualifications. The trigger has really smoothed out throughout the day of dry firing. It’s a great little gun. The +P packs a little punch but it’s a great shooter.
Nice shooting John!
I put a Wilson Spring kit in Sue's 642 and that really helps. Lowered the trigger pull from 15 lbs to 9 lbs. $8.49 plus shipping from Midway.
