Pacific Rescue Story Taking On Water

Two women and their dogs get lost in a big ocean for five months until the U.S. Canoe Club comes to the rescue. But now it appears that the heroic tale may be just scuttlebutt.

    Note: Several drunken sailor words

Some folks will do anything for a few minutes of fame. 'Course, you'd think the Canoe Club would be able to smell a rat & would have cried foul, but guess they wanted in on the publicity.

I like the way the guy wrote this! I have done a lot of Sailing. Still judge sail races. When I saw boat pictures and first stories I smelled a rotten fish. People can always figure out a way to rig something on a sailboat to catch a little wind and get it going.

Where's Gilligan and the Skipper when you really need them?

Not a sailor myself, more of a powerboat guy. But a lot of sailor friends I have seem to think this has more to do with their incompetence as sailors more than anything else. Agree with JCLs, there are ways to rig things and every bit can help in survival.

I am a sailor and this is fishy. Why are they so healthy. One is over weight, the dog is overweight. They had a plb and never deployed it. BS! Read up on these two and you will smell the essence of fish too.

My beacon runs on the 406Mhz band and is registered with the US Coast Guard. I no longer have a sailboat, but I never leave port to go fishing without it. There is no reason these girls didn't activate their's.
