    Good 357 ammo

Looking for good carry ammo for .357 mag. Thinking of the Gold Dot 135 gr.

Anyone r commend anything? Know any good deals on the Gold Dot? Would love to find a 50 round box or two

Sorry John but I find your quest odd since you can put together better rounds than you can buy. I wouldn't dream of buying my hunting or SD ammo.

    Cor-Bon DPX for SD.
125 gr. 14" penetration, 100% bullet retention, .66" average expansion. Barnes all copper.

158-grainers have withstood the test of time, so that would be a good starting place. For snubbies, I believe I'd go with a .38 Special +P with a low flash powder. Less jump and easier on the night vision.

I carry 38 in the j frame, but I was thinking of getting 357 for the K frame. I was also looking at the Remington HTP 158 gr. Showed good expansion on the lucky gunner tests with 14-15” penetration from a 2”

the 125 grain hollow point has one of the best records of one of the best one shot stop ratings of any handgun loads. Its one of the few loads that both the "morgue monsters" and "jello junkies" agree upon as top of the heap. This id the load they tried to replicate for a pistol when they brought out the .357 Sig cartridge. Various companies make good ones, I would try some good ones and see which shoot best out if it

For .38 the 158 grain lead semi wadcutter hollowpoint fbi or Chicago load is hard to beat

I usually shoot .38 +P in my .357s, except my Rugers, in which .357 is more comfortable. And my usual SD ammo is Hornady.

John, my son has killed four deer with Federal Fusion 158 grain hollow points. The deer recommend them as one shot deadly.
Here is one recovered from one of his deer.

    Re: Good 357 ammo

I found some Hornady American Gunner 125 XTP and tried that out today at the range. Put on a good show with lots of jump, flash, boom. Not happy with my follow ups and accuracy with it.

For now going to stick with my GD +P ammo until I can find some .357 Gold Dot short barrels to try out.

Factory Hornady always was given to max loads. They must think everybody's after a zombie rhinoceros or something....which is what a lot of Washington RINOs are, come to think of it.
