New ky permitless cc bill 2017

New ky permitless cc bill will be introduced to the house this week. Not a bad bill this time so far anyway.

We will have to push it hard to get it passed though

Not trying to be a prig, but why not revise 527.020 instead of have a new section of Code? Does this replace 527.020? My reading says that if I'm eligible under 527.020, then this new section 237 gives me permission to carry as if I had a permit.

Here's my scenario, I get jacked up by the local constabulary, I don't have a permit and am charged. I now have either a Class A misdemeanor or Class 5 Felony that I have to defend against. I may have touched all the bases, and have all the documentation, but I'm still going to have to go to court because I DON'T have the friggin permit.

Full disclosure, I'm from from Virginia and all of this is from a quick search on the relevant KY code sections referenced that I could find, not case law. I'm not an attorney, nor do I play one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Georgia is trying to go for Constitutional carry as well but leaving the permt system in place for those that want one for reciprocity.

My question would be how a law enforcement officer is going to know if the person is eligible under the old law, if the person does not have a permit? As Ponsonby says, does he arrest him & then it's up to the person to prove he's eligible?

Well it didn't pass anyway but I'll try answer some questions

All that was, done was simply strike the words, permit from existing law.
KY has no other permit requirement to carry or own a, gun except concealed.

Open Carry none of the domestic, child support garbage, applies. Only to a cc permit.

I'm pretty sure the legislature simply didn't want to give up the little authority they have over guns here.

So they tried to hold as much control as they could by using cc .
They have NO regulatory power over oc or gun ownership that isn't a Federal law.

Lol more people carry concealed here without permits than have them.
Folks carried cc here long before the state made it legal.
The KY ccdw was and is a revenue scheme here. Nothing more.

Happily, Texas is working on it. Still haven't been able to pass Constitutional Carry, but initial fee for CC has been reduced from $140 for 5 years to $70 with seniors from $70 to $35. Renewals from $70 to $35. Fee for vets is down to $25. Classes & proficiency test for renewals have also been dropped.
