    I'm a rifle guy

Took the Savage out finally today. The rifle was "boresighted".... it took a bit to get it zeroed. But I got it. Didn't get to stay out as long as I wanted because it MLK day and everyone that was off work came out to my spot. And I don't like to shoot around crowds. Makes me nervous.

After the zero, I tried the following ammo out.

I was far from impressed. 8 rounds, only 5 fired. And you can see how they did

I emailed the company with my dislike for their ammo. Maybe it's just that lot. I don't know.

Then I pulled out the PMC Bronze 55gr FMJ. This is 12 rounds. The flier is when my glasses were fogged. And there was a bee. And I sneezed. And a coyote was howling. And my eyes were closed.....

All shooting was at 75 yards. I parked too close and didn't want to trek up the hill in the mud for an extra 25 yards to make it an even 100.

I am happy with the gun. Glad I got a bolt. It's relaxing, slows me down and I get to concentrate on something else to get my mind off of work. I'm sure I'll bring the group in a bit next time out. Maybe in two weeks I'll go out again. Beautiful morning, 42 degrees when I was out at sunrise. Great morning.

Side note, I don't know why the pictures turned sideways but you get the idea

Good first session. It'll take a few times out for you to get to know one another. Other types of ammo will produce a little different results also. Glad you finally got to tickle her trigger.

If your Savage is like my .308 Savage, she'll only shoot better as you go. You'll get spoiled with the accutrigger too.

    Re: I'm a rifle guy

I emailed IMI systems. The first website I emailed they told me they just sold the ammo and told me to contact the company in Israel. I asked if they were concerned the product they were selling had issues, but they did not reply.

I then emailed the company directly. They replied back with "what kind of accuracy were you expecting?" So I replied I at least expected their ammunition to group well enough, but. Ostly I wasn't expecting a 37% failure rate with their ammo actually firing. Doesn't seem like they care too much. So I won't be buying their product any more

Next time ask for kosher ammo and a discount. God made Gentiles because somebody's gotta pay retail.

I had it out a few weeks ago using more of the PMC ammo. It shot great. Really a fun gun to shoot. I may venture out this fall for a coyote and see how I do

    Re: I'm a rifle guy

John, I have a Winnie Model 70 in .300 Win Mag that I only shoot PMC 150 grain ammo in because it just happens to shoot that PMC better than all the ammo I tested. One hole. So I bought a case of it just for that rifle.

After you test some more brands, you may find one that your rifle loves more than all the rest. That's a happy moment. Then buy a bunch of it.
