    Model 97

    Hey Guys,

I am trying to help out a friend with a model 97 he has that is doing something strange. If the safety is released, it will only fire it the pistol is tipped 90 degrees to the left, looking like a gang banger. Obviously there is something on the inside hanging up. I need to get inside and of course he does not have a manual for it.
Any ideas on what could be hanging up and I need to know how to get the slide off.
Thanks for any and all help.

    Welcome to Bersa Chat johnp,

You can find some help on an archive site here http://web.archive.org/web/200810300...m/model97.html

click on the highlighted model 844 in the text for some additional pictures and information.

Please let us know what you find when you get in there. Model 97's parts and information is limited so any insight will be appreciated.

    regards jab

p.s. if you need more gangsta info please direct you questions to the resident expert Mr Mason

Thanks for the link, that was what I needed. Turned out to be the mag safety that was causing the problem. The pin that touches the mag was worn (I would really like to know how that happened) enough that it would not move enough to the side to allow the bar to move past it, but when it was tilted to the left gravity would pull it enough to clear.
    Thanks again for the info.

Thank you for the reply johnp,

There are not to many 97 owners around and that model is considerably different than the currently produced Thunder 380 so any information you can contribute is greatly appreciated.

Hang around and enjoy our little band a while.

It's not mine and as soon as I get a new pin made monday I hopefully will not see this particular one again. It sure is nice that there are forums such as this one to help people out when they need it.

Be sure and give the owner our address. We welcome any new faces and try not to abuse them too badly. Being a Bersa owner is not a requirement....the only requirement is being friendly.

I will. I have this site in my bookmarks, I simply don't own a Bersa so I wouldn't have much to contribute.

We can remedy that if you hang around awhile the Bersa bug will bite you, they are very addictive and then they begin to multiply like rabbits.

You really should take that 97 out for a test drive.

Oh I know about those bugs, I have been infested with them. I can't afford anymore bugs right now.

    Welcome to BC daemon1972,

I don't know of any suppliers that currently have mags for the 383 or 97 models.

Here are two for sale on Gunbroker that should work in your model 97.

I have no experience with this seller nor any interest in these auctions...just passing information.

    Good luck in your search
