Thumbs down A warning about Marschal grips.

I ordered a set of Marschal grips for my Thunder 380 on March 19th. One week later, on March 26th, I sent Dennis an email asking him to change the color of the grips from black oil stained walnut to red shellac. On May 6th, having still not received the grips or an aknowledgement of the change to my order, I sent him another email reminding him of the color change.

On Saturday, June 11th the grips finally arrived. 84 days (exactly 12 weeks) after I had placed the order. And guess what. They were the wrong color.

Since then, I have sent him 11 emails asking him to allow me to return the grips and get the color I wanted. He has yet to answer.

I just wanted to warn my fellow Bersachat members that although everybody says Marschal grips are great, you damn well better get the order right on the first try, and you better be prepared to wait about three months for them.

I heard they were slow, but I didn't know about the flexibility issue.

Do you hear it? I hear it.
I suspect he will make it right, he has in the past. 12 weeks is pretty standard for his delivery time.

I don't think any pair of grips is worth waiting 12 weeks for. Did you have trouble when you placed the order the first time?

Well, I only placed it once. There was no problem placing the order, it was just that he never changed the color, like I asked him to, and it took 12 weeks.

My .45 grips took like 14-15 weeks. The good news is they were spot on what I wanted..

That's good, Mason. I would have gladly waited another couple of weeks for what I wanted.

Can you post a pic of what the final result looked like? Maybe someone here would be happy to buy them from you and then you could place a new order with the color choice you wanted.

From looking at his web site I assume you ordered these: http://www.marschalgrips.com/bersa/b...-checkered.jpg

Yes, that's them, except I didn't get the Bersa logo on them.

I am very happy with my walnut grips with the Bersa logo on them from Condors Flight and it didn't even take 12 days much less 12 weeks.

I ordered 2 sets on 28 Apr and supposedly they are just now in the mail (18 Jul). I was hoping to get them in for Father's Day, but that was obviously a pipe dream. I know they're busy, but taking my money 3 months ago for something I (or my Dad) don't have yet...sheesh! Hope I'm happy with the finished product, because I don't think I'll order from them again.

Well, since I started this thread, and since Dennis has never sent me any return correspondence concerning the wrong color, I just bit the bullet and refinished them myself. I hated the black, and now they are a nice natural walnut color.

Re: A warning about Marschal grips.

Just thought I'd tack on to this thread rather than starting a new one. I just received some Purpleheart (with clear shellac) grips for the CC I am going to give to my daughter. The wait was about 8 weeks. I knew that going in. The craftsmanship is fine. The fit, the finish, is all perfect. The additional bulk the grips give the gun make the gun feel awesome in the hand. But I could be happier...

The two sides of the grips are different colors. One is light, one is dark. I am fully aware that the nature of exotic hardwoods means there are going to be differences in the wood from the pictures on his site to what I get. But differences between left and right? Come on... Just pick two pieces that are close to the same before they go on the CNC machine... that's all I'm asking.

Here's a pic with the flash on:

Here's a pic with the flash off. You can really tell here:

I like the darker shade, but I would have been happy with either shade. Just want them the same. Yeah, I know, you can't see both sides of the gun at once. I guess that's the saving grace.

I e-mailed Dennis. We'll see if he'll take care of me or if he wants me to ship these back first...

Edit: Almost a week later and nary are reply from Marschal. I don't care where you are, that's bad customer service...

I have been wanting to order some for my 380cc but I just don't want to order from so far away. If anyone has any for sale let me know, I'll refinish them if I have to

Mason: here you go. Sorry it took so long, had to wait 'til my daughter was in town to take a picture.

This is what they looked like before. (This is not actually them, but a picture I found. But the color looked just like this).
    Black Oil Grips.jpg

And here they are after the refinish. Hope you like them.

Re: A warning about Marschal grips.

I've been looking at grips for a PA-63 I bought this fall. Marschal seems to be the only game in town for this Hungarian gun. I was hesitant to put $50 into grips for a $200 gun, but there's not much choice. Midway USA has grips for the PA-63 but they didn't fit and were unevenly matched crap.

Looking over Marschal's order form, they do have unfinished models. Figured on a 10-week wait or so. 12 weeks? C'est la vie...
